RE: 1991 PENSION WORKSHOPS

The Institute will hold a series of workshops on pension
issues for members in different regions of the country early next
year. The program will cover a variety of topics relating to
retirement plans, including eligibility, contribution limits,
discrimination rules, transfers and rollovers, divorce,
bankruptcy, types and timing of distributions, withholding and
reporting on distributions, fiduciary responsibility under ERISA
-- including Section 404(c) -- and plans for not-for-profit
employers -- including the TIAA-CREF settlement.
The workshops are designed for mutual fund employees
working in or having customer contact in retirement plan and IRA
fields. The moderator and workshop leaders will review and
clarify basic concepts, address common problems of employee
benefit recordkeeping, and discuss recent developments in
employee benefits legislation, regulation and judicial decisions.
The structure of the workshop is to limit the "formal"
presentations of the panelists and to encourage questions from
and interaction with the audience. The workshop leaders will be

John Kimpel of Fidelity Investments, and Gary Strum of Quest for
Value Advisers.

The workshops are scheduled to run from 9:00 am to 4:15 pm
with ample time for questions from attendees after each
presentation. A preliminary agenda is attached.
Registration for these workshops is restricted to employees
of ICI members. Please register promptly as space may be
limited. To register, simply complete the form provided and
return it, along with a check for $175 for the first registrant
and $100 for each additional registrant within the same member
complex, to the Institute.
