INTERNATIONAL INVESTING SUBCOMMITTEE No. 2-09     RE: NOTICE OF GMM WEEK INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE MEETINGS -- MAY 5 AND 6, 2009

The next meeting of the International Committee will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the Institute’s David Silver Conference Room (DSCR), 1401 H Street, NW, 12th Floor, Washington, DC.  In conjunction with that meeting, there will be a number of other meetings during GMM week to which we invite members of the International Committee and International Investing Subcommittee.

  • International Operations Advisory Committee.  Members are invited to participate in the Institute’s International Operations Advisory Committee (IOAC) meeting on Tuesday, May 5th in the Institute’s DSCR, which begins at 8:00 a.m. with continental breakfast and will continue until approximately 12:00 p.m.  The International Committee and the IOAC will then have a joint lunch, followed by the International Committee meeting.
  • International Committee and EFAMA.  On the next day, Wednesday, May 6th, there will be a joint meeting of the ICI International Committee and the European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA).  The meeting, also in the Institute’s DSCR, will begin at 8:30 a.m. with continental breakfast available before the meeting at 8:00 a.m.  The meeting is expected to conclude by 3:00 p.m.  The meeting with EFAMA has been lengthened this year, and will cover topics such as the effects of the recent market turmoil, the future of money market funds, financial services regulatory reform, retirement savings reform, the fallout from the Madoff crisis, and other mutual fund developments.  The topics will be examined from both the European and U.S. perspective.  A member of the staff of the SEC’s Division of Investment Management also will participate in the discussion on certain topics.
  • General Membership Meeting.  We also hope you will consider attending the Institute’s General Membership Meeting, which will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel on May 6-8th.  Opening remarks are at 3:00 p.m. on May 6th, and the first session begins at 3:30 p.m.  The GMM program and registration form are available on the Institute’s conference website at http://gmm.ici.org/?refid=gmm08_pubsite.  For questions about GMM, please contact the Institute’s conference division at (202) 326-5968.
