TO: OPERATIONS MEMBERS No. 8-09
BROKER/DEALER ADVISORY COMMITTEE No. 17-09
BANK, TRUST AND RECORDKEEPER ADVISORY COMMITTEE No. 15-09
TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE No. 8-09
TRANSFER AGENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE No. 26-09     RE: OPERATIONS & TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE WILL NOT BE HELD IN 2009

In light of the current economic environment, the Investment Company Institute, in consultation with the leadership of ICI’s operations and technology committees, has decided not to hold the 2009 Operations & Technology Conference, which had been scheduled to take place in October. We made this difficult decision in consideration of member firms’ sharp focus on reducing discretionary expenses, including those related to travel.

Although we do not believe that holding the conference this year would be in the best interests of the membership, our commitment to meeting the needs of the fund industry’s operations and technology communities remains as strong as ever. Consequently, we will augment our already very busy schedule of committee and working group meetings with a variety of cost-effective information sharing and collaboration opportunities throughout the year. For example, ICI will offer a series of webinars, such as the recently held webinar on intermediary oversight, and educational conference calls designed to keep operations and technology executives apprised of regulatory and business developments. More information about these webinars and conference calls will be provided throughout the year.

We appreciate your understanding of the decision not to hold the conference in 2009 and remain committed to meeting the needs of the fund industry’s operations and technology communities. If you have any questions, please contact Linda Brenner at 202-326-5883 or brenner@ici.org.
