TO: SEC RULES COMMITTEE No. 66-08 RE: UPDATE ON SEC RULES COMMITTEE MEETING AND DINNER IN WASHINGTON, D.C. ON OCTOBER 29-30, 2008; HOTEL CUTOFF SEPTEMBER 22ND
As previously announced, an extended, in-person meeting of the SEC Rules Committee has been scheduled for Thursday, October 30th. Please note that the meeting will be held at the Almas Conference Center, 1315 K Street, NW, Washington, DC (located just two blocks from the ICI offices). As we have done for the past few October meetings, we are planning a special program featuring outside speakers and a small group discussion session, in addition to the regular meeting agenda. The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. Eastern time and end at approximately 3:30 p.m.
We are pleased to announce that Jennifer McHugh, Senior Advisor to the Director of the SEC’s Division of Investment Management, and Susan Nash, Associate Director in the Division of Investment Management, will speak in the morning, and that Dan Steiner, General Counsel of ICI Mutual Insurance Company, will be our luncheon speaker.
We would appreciate your input on potential topics for our small group discussions or other topics you would like to discuss at the meeting, so you will be prompted to provide them when you register as described below. Your suggestions will help us ensure that we address the issues of greatest interest.

Committee Dinner
A cocktail reception and dinner will be held the evening of Wednesday, October 29th at a restaurant near the Institute’s offices. If you plan to attend, please register as directed below. All participants will be charged $85.00. Please note that if you cancel within 72 hours of the reception and dinner, your payment will not be refunded. The dinner is being held at Teatro Goldoni, 1909 K Street, NW, Washington, DC, at 6:45 pm with cocktails beginning at 6:00 pm.
Meeting Registration
To register for the SEC Rules Committee meeting and dinner, please visit our registration site at http://members.ici.org/reg/secrules. To assist with our planning, we request that you register by September 26th.
In completing the online registration form, please provide any suggested topics for the small group discussions. Because our meetings are most successful when our agenda reflects the issues of interest to the committee members, please provide at least one suggestion for an agenda item in order to complete your registration.
Hotel Accommodations
We have reserved a block of rooms at the Hamilton Crown Plaza, 14th & K Streets, N.W., (1001 14th Street), Washington, D.C. for the evening of October 29th at a rate of $229.00 per night. To make reservations, please call the hotel at 800-263-9802 and mention that you are an Investment Company Institute meeting attendee. Please note that due to the limited number of rooms, all reservations must be guaranteed by September 22nd to receive the discounted rate. Reservations must be cancelled at least 72 hours in advance to avoid penalty.
