We are planning for our mid winter Committee meeting, held this
year at the Doral Ocean Beach Resort in Miami on January 16-18,
1990. You will have received a memo from Dick Pogue, under
separate cover, with the full program for all committees and
registration information.
Our Committee meeting on January 16 will be a different format
this year from the past. The day will be devoted to workshops
set on two subjects that are of central importance to the
functioning of our Committee.
1. Using the 1990's study and other background,
what is the direction of the Research Agenda up
to 1995?
2. The Research Committee - who are we?
What is our mandate from the industry?
The meeting format will be called a retreat and only Research
Committee members will participate. The first part of the day
the Committee will divide into two groups to discuss any and all
aspects of each group's assigned topic. After a short break the
groups will combine and report on their main considerations.
Discussion will continue until the Committee has developed some
direction on each topic.
The Committee collectively spends several hundred hours of work
each year representing the industry's views on research. This
retreat is designed for members to examine progress and processes
and to set a course for the next few years. This will be an
important meeting and I encourage all Committee members to
attend, especially those who are Committee veterans.
