ABANDONED PROPERTY TASK FORCE
RE: NOVEMBER 14 MEETING

A meeting of the Abandoned Property Task Force has been
scheduled for November 14, 1990 to discuss a number of issues
concerning unclaimed property that have recently arisen. At the
meeting, we will discuss the proposed NAUPA policy concerning the
tracking of RPO dates on dormant dividend reinvestment accounts.
Attached is a copy of the proposed policy. Richard Goggin, the
Director of Audit and Compliance for the Treasurer and Receiver
General for Massachusetts and the drafter of the proposed policy,
will be attending the meeting to discuss this matter with the
Task Force. We will also discuss the recent change in the
California Unclaimed Property Law, the audits being conducted by
New York and some new methods that funds are using to locate
shareholders. If there are any other items that you would like
to discuss at the meeting, please let me know.
The November 14th meeting will be held at the Institute at
10:00 a.m. Please contact Michele Dugue at 202/955-3515 by
November 7, 1990 to let her know whether you will be able to
attend the meeting.
