TO: PENSION COMMITTEE No. 41-07
PENSION OPERATIONS ADVISORY COMMITTEE No. 42-07 RE: ICI CONFERENCE CALL TO DISCUSS RECENT IRS GUIDANCE ON 403(b) PLANS SCHEDULED FOR JANUARY 10 AT 2:00 PM ET

The Institute will hold a conference call on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 2:00 PM Eastern time to discuss guidance on 403(b) plans provided in IRS Revenue Procedure 2007-71. [1]  Revenue Procedure 2007-71 provides model plan language for public schools, guidance on when plan amendments or a written plan must be adopted to comply with the regulations, and guidance regarding certain 403(b) contracts issued before 2009.  The IRS has asked for comments by March 16, 2008 on the model language and any other language that should be added to the model document.

The purpose of the call is to identify and discuss issues or questions that members may have relating to Revenue Procedure 2007-71 and any other issues arising under the 403(b) final regulations.  The Institute expects to raise these issues in a comment letter. If you would like to participate in the call, please complete the attached response form and fax or e-mail it to Brenda Turner at 202/326-5841 or bturner@ici.org by noon on Thursday, January 10, 2008.  To participate, please dial 1-877-709-5339 and enter passcode 25673.  As a reminder, because all lines are open to facilitate discussion, please remember to place your line on mute when not speaking and do not place the call on hold.
