A preliminary agenda for the International Committee meeting on Tuesday, October 9 is attached. We are very pleased to announce that Susan Silma, Director of Compliance and Registrant Regulation at the Ontario Securities Commission, will discuss the current Canadian proposal on point of sale disclosure for mutual funds. Susan will also be available to address questions on other aspects of mutual fund regulation in Canada. Susan has served as Director of the OSC’s Investment Funds Division (through August 2007) and as Canada’s representative on IOSCO’s Standing Committee on Asset Management.
In addition to speaking with Susan Silma, we will be discussing large shareholding disclosure and a number of important developments in Europe and China (please see the attached preliminary agenda). We are also introducing a “Shop Talk” forum at this meeting, at which Committee members may raise any issue on which they wish to seek input from other members. The attendance response form has a section for suggested Shop Talk topics, or you may also raise something at the meeting.
The committee meeting will be held at the Investment Company Institute in Washington D.C., with offsite locations in Santa Monica, California and London. The California and London meeting locations will be hosted by Dimensional Fund Advisors. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Eastern time (10 a.m. Pacific time and 6 p.m. London time) and will last for approximately 2 hours. Lunch will be available in both US locations, prior to the meeting in Washington and following the meeting in Santa Monica. Details for the three locations are listed on the second page.
