Federal Website With Helpful Information/Tips On Computer Security

The Federal Trade Commission has partnered with various federal agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission, the internet industry, and other organizations * to sponsor a website, OnGuard Online, to provide practical tips relating to computer security, internet fraud, and the protection of personal information.  Topics discussed on the website include: laptop security, identity theft, spyware, wireless security, phishing, and spam.  The website includes, among other things:

  • Videos and tutorials on protecting personal information, computer security, spam filtering, and wireless security;
  • Interactive activities (under the “Resources” tab) on topics covered by the website; and
  • Information on filing a complaint relating to hacking, computer viruses, identity theft, spyware, phishing, and online fraud, including investment fraud.
