TO: INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE No. 5-07
The next meeting of the International Committee will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. in the Institute’s David Silver Conference Room (DSCR), 1401 H Street, NW, 12th Floor, Washington, DC. In conjunction with that meeting, there will be a number of other meetings during GMM week to which we invite members of the International Committee and International Investing Subcommittee. A response form for the meetings is attached.
Members are invited to participate in the Institute’s International Operations Advisory Committee meeting on Tuesday, May 8 in the Institute’s DSCR, which begins at 8:30 a.m. with continental breakfast beginning at 8:00 a.m. (As you know, the IOAC’s primary focus is the standardization and automation of clearance and settlement procedures for mutual fund capital share transactions worldwide.) The International Committee and IOAC will then have a joint lunch, followed by the International Committee meeting.
On the next day, Wednesday, May 9, there will be a joint meeting of the ICI International Committee and the European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA). The meeting, also in the Institute’s DSCR, will begin at 8:30 a.m., with continental breakfast available before the meeting at 8:00 a.m. Lunch will be served following the meeting.
We also hope you will consider attending the Institute’s General Membership Meeting, which will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, May 9–11. The first session of GMM begins at 2:30 p.m. on May 9. The GMM program and registration form are available on the Institute’s conference website at conferences.ici.org. For questions about GMM, please contact the Institute’s conference division at (202) 326-5968.
As in years past, we will be hosting a dinner for International Committee members and for international guests attending the Institute’s General Membership Meeting. The dinner will be on the evening of Tuesday, May 8. Information about the restaurant will be forthcoming.
A block of rooms has been reserved at the JW Marriott Hotel Pennsylvania Avenue for the evenings of May 7 and 8 at a rate of $279 per night. The hotel is located at 1331 Pennsyvania Ave., N.W., within walking distance of the Institute. To make reservations, please call the hotel at 202-393-2000 or 800-228-9290 and indicate that you are part of the Investment Company Institute group. Please make your hotel reservations as soon as possible as rooms are limited, but no later than Monday, April 9 to receive the group rate. All reservations must be guaranteed by a credit card and reservations must be cancelled 48 hours in advance of arrival to avoid a penalty.
If you are staying on for the General Membership Meeting, you may want to stay at the conference hotel, the Marriott Wardman Park, 2660 Woodley Road, N.W. Phone numbers for the Marriott Wardman Park are 202-328-2000 or 800-228-9290.
Please assist us in determining who will be attending the meeting by faxing the attached form no later than April 24 to Ruth Tadesse at the Institute. The fax number is 202-326-5841, and you can reach Ruth at 202-326-5836 or rtadesse@ici.org.
