TO: PENSION COMMITTEE No. 2-07
The joint meeting of the Pension and Pension Operations Advisory Committees is scheduled for Thursday, February 8, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time. The meeting will be held at the Fairmont Hotel (Benjamin Latrobe Room), 2401 M Street, NW, Washington, DC.
A preliminary agenda and meeting response form is attached. If there are other issues that you would like us to include on the agenda, please contact Mary Podesta at 202-326-5826 or podesta@ici.org. As we did at our last meeting, we plan to include time for members to discuss reporting and compliance issues--we would appreciate if you include those items in the space provided on the attached meeting response form.
As you know, the day before the Committee meeting, the Institute is hosting our Pension Protection Act Developments Conference, which will also be held at the Fairmont Hotel. If you have not already done so, you can register for the conference here: http://members.ici.org/conferences/main.do?id=PPADC07.
The Committee meeting will not duplicate the PPA Conference. We will have presentations and discussions by outside counsel on two front burner issues. Attorneys from Groom Law Group will talk about the impact of the change of Congressional control and recent GAO report on the legislative and DOL agendas. Bill Schmidt and David Pickle of K&L Gates will review developments in the recent 401(k) litigation.
We are planning to organize a dinner for Committee members in the evening of February 7, after the conference ends, subject to interest. If you would attend a dinner that night, please indicate your interest on the attached meeting response form or email Brenda Turner (bturner@ici.org).
If you plan to attend the February 8 meeting and/or the February 7 dinner and have not already responded, please e-mail or fax the attached meeting response form by Wednesday, January 31, to the Institute’s Brenda Turner at bturner@ici.org or (202) 326-5841.
Dennis Simmons
Chair, Pension Committee
