[20415] September 27, 2006 TO: INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE No. 25-06 INTERNATIONAL INVESTING SUBCOMMITTEE No. 21-06 RE: PRELIMINARY AGENDA FOR THE OCTOBER 10, 2006 INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE MEETING A preliminary agenda for the International Committee meeting on Tuesday, October 10th is attached. We are very pleased to announce that Mr. Ethiopis Tafara, Director of the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of International Affairs, will join us at the meeting as a guest speaker. This presents an excellent opportunity for Committee members to discuss the issues that US asset management firms face in foreign markets with one of the SEC’s leading international experts. In addition to speaking with Mr. Tafara, we will be discussing the Institute’s international priorities for 2007 as well as a number of important substantive topics at the meeting, including soft dollar disclosure and fund governance (two topics on which we will have comment letters to file in October). One of the benefits of Committee membership is the ability to influence our international priorities and the specific positions the Institute takes in comment letters. We hope that Committee members will take advantage of the opportunity this meeting provides in that regard. Committee members may participate in person in one of three locations: Washington, D.C. San Mateo, California Investment Company Institute Franklin Templeton Investments 1401 H Street, N.W. 920 Park Place David Silver Conference Room, 12th Fl. Executive Board Room, 4th Fl., Building 920 London, England Franklin Templeton Investments The Adelphi, 11th Floor 1-11 John Adam Street Boardroom 2 The meeting will begin at 1 pm Eastern time (10 am Pacific time and 6 pm London time). Lunch will be available in both US locations, prior to the meeting in Washington and following the meeting in California. A preliminary agenda and a response form for the meeting are attached. If you plan to attend the meeting but have not yet replied, please fax the attached response form to us at 202/326-5841 by Wednesday, October 4, 2006.
