In anticipation of the NASD's adoption of a rule governing
investment company distribution payments, the Institute is
planning a special one-day conference on the new NASD rule. The
conference will be held on Tuesday, September 11 at the Mayflower
Hotel in Washington, D.C.
The conference will consist of three panels which are
tentatively scheduled to cover the following topics: Background
and Structure of the NASD Rule, Application of the Rule to
Spread-Load Plans and Application of the Rule to Non-Spread Load
Plans. Several experts on Rule 12b-1 will be featured as
panelists. A preliminary conference program will be mailed to
you shortly.
As we anticipate that this conference will be heavily
subscribed, attached is a registration form for you to complete
and return to the Institute as soon as possible to reserve your
place. Please note that attendance at the conference is limited
to Institute members and other organizations maintaining a
business relationship with an Institute member, such as outside
counsel and accountants.
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Mayflower Hotel
for conference attendees. The address of the hotel is 1127

the telephone number is 202/347-3000. Please make your own hotel
reservations if you need a hotel room. When you phone for

the Investment Company Institute's conference.
