RE: FORM FOR CLAIMING BLUE CHIP EXEMPTION IN UTAH

As we previously informed you, effective July 1, 1990, Utah
has enacted a blue chip exemption from registration for qualified
mutual funds and unit investment trusts (See Memorandum to Board
of Governors No. 18-90, State Securities Members No. 4-90 and
Unit Investment Trust Members No. 17-90, dated March 14, 1990).
The exemption may be claimed as an alternative to registration by
filing $500 per prospectus and the attached form.
The Institute intends to continue its efforts to establish
a uniform form for claiming the blue chip exemption in the
states. We will keep you informed of developments.
