FEBRUARY 9 AND 10 TAX COMMITTEE MEETINGS IN WASHINGTON, DC

[18412] January 12, 2005 TO: TAX COMMITTEE No. 1-05 RE: FEBRUARY 9 AND 10 TAX COMMITTEE MEETINGS IN WASHINGTON, DC The next meetings of the Tax Committee will be held on Wednesday, February 9, beginning at 2:00 p.m., and Thursday, February 10, beginning at 9:30 a.m., in the David Silver Conference Room, on the 12th floor of Institute’s offices at 1401 H Street, NW, Washington, DC 20005. Lunch will be served before the February 9 meeting, beginning at 1:00 p.m., and at the conclusion of the February 10 meeting. The Tax Subcommittee meeting on February 9 will address issues arising from the American Jobs Creation Act of 2004.1 In particular, the Committee will focus on the Act’s provision permitting funds to flow through interest and short-term gains to foreign investors and requiring the application of FIRPTA. The Tax Committee meeting on February 10 will begin with a discussion of the Institute’s legislative and regulatory priorities for 2005. A complete preliminary agenda will be distributed in advance of the meeting. As in the past, arrangements are being made for the Tax Committee dinner on Wednesday, February 9. We plan to start dinner at approximately 5:30 at a nearby restaurant.
