SEC ANNOUNCES AGENDA FOR PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED REGULATION NMS

[17397] April 16, 2004 TO: EQUITY MARKETS ADVISORY COMMITTEE No. 18-04 SEC RULES COMMITTEE No. 35-04 RE: SEC ANNOUNCES AGENDA FOR PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED REGULATION NMS The SEC has announced the agenda for the public hearing to be held on proposed Regulation NMS on Wednesday, April 21, 2004.1 The hearing will consist of seven panels on various issues addressed by the proposal. Specifically, panels will be held on the trade-through proposal, combining the traditional trading floor with an automatic execution facility, the market access proposal, the subpenny quoting proposal, and the market data proposal.2 John Wheeler of American Century Investments will be testifying on behalf of the Institute on the trade-through proposal panel. The SEC’s announcement states that it may schedule further hearings to obtain additional public discussion of these proposals in light of the degree of public interest in testifying at the hearing.
