| Print
[17312] March 29, 2004 TO: PENSION COMMITTEE No. 17-04 RE: APRIL 15 MEETING TO DISCUSS INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENTS The Pension Committee will meet in Washington, DC on Thursday, April 15 at 10:00 a.m. to discuss in detail -- from the retirement community perspective -- several topics that are receiving significant attention in the industry, Government, and the media. The meeting is being scheduled on relatively short notice because of the pace at which various proposals that would impact retirement accounts are being considered by Congress and regulatory agencies. The meeting will focus on retirement account-related considerations involving market timing, late trading, and revenue sharing, as well as issues involving participant disclosure and directed trustees. The meeting would involve discussion of the Institute’s position in the legislative/regulatory environment with respect to each of these issues as well as what role, if any, the Institute should play in the business environment (such as identifying possible industry standards or best practices and/or steps we might take to coordinate with others about retirement community-wide solutions). The meeting will be held in the Institute’s David Silver Conference Room on the 12th Floor of our offices at 1401 H Street, NW, Washington DC 20005. The meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m., include lunch, and could run through mid to late afternoon. If you plan to attend the meeting, please complete the attached meeting response form and return it to Brenda Turner either electronically (bturner@ici.org) or by fax (202/326-5841). If you have any suggestions for agenda items, or thoughts you would like to share in advance of the meeting, please contact Keith Lawson (202/326-5832 or lawson@ici.org), Kathy Ireland (202/371-5432 or kireland@ici.org), Tom Kim (202/326-5837 or tkim@ici.org) or Lisa Robinson (202/326-5835 or lrobinson@ici.org).
