[14424] February 4, 2002 TO: PENSION COMMITTEE No. 5-02 PENSION OPERATIONS ADVISORY COMMITTEE No. 8-02 RE: PRELIMINARY AGENDA -- FEBRUARY 13 AND 14 JOINT PENSION COMMITTEE AND PENSION OPERATIONS ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETINGS As we previously informed you, the next joint meetings of the Pension Committee and the Pension Operations Advisory Committee will be held in Washington, DC on February 13 and 14, 2002, at the Institute’s offices, 1401 H Street, NW, Washington, DC 20005, in the David Silver Conference Room (12th Floor). Attached for your review is the preliminary agenda for the meeting on February 14. Special Meeting on ERISA Reform Issues — February 13 An afternoon meeting, beginning at 2:00 pm EST on the 13th, will be held to discuss proposals to amend Title I of ERISA, including the recent congressional inquiries into 401(k) plans and the investment advice legislation. Light refreshments (cookies and drinks) will be available immediately prior to the February 13 meeting. Joint Committee Meeting — February 14 The Joint Committee meeting will begin at 10:00 am EST on the morning of February 14 (see attached preliminary agenda). Lunch will be available following the Joint Committee meeting. February 13 Dinner As previously noted, an informal dinner for interested members of both Committees will be held at approximately 5:30 pm EST on Wednesday, February 13 at a close-by restaurant (to be determined). The cost of attending the Committee dinner will be divided among those attending. 2 Meeting Response Form If you plan to attend either of these meetings, please fax the attached meeting response form by Monday, February 11, 2002, to Brenda Turner at 202/326-5841. Final arrangements for the Committee dinner will be provided to those planning to attend. Next Committee Meetings The next regularly scheduled joint meetings of the Committees will be held in Washington, DC on June 3 (in the afternoon) and 4 (in the morning), 2002.
