We offer our deepest sympathy to their families and to others who have lost family, friends, and associates as the result of last week’s tragic events. In the wake of this tragedy, many Institute members have contacted us to express their concern and condolences and have expressed an interest in contributing to industry-related and other relief efforts. The Institute has identified several relief funds that Institute member firms and their officers, directors, and employees may wish to support. Included in the list are two relief funds established by Institute member firms that were among those who suffered significant losses. The relief funds are: • The Foundation for Alger Families • FT Fiduciary Trust Memorial Fund • International Association of Fire Fighters New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund • World Trade Center Police Disaster Fund • Survivors’ Fund of the Community Foundation of the National Capital Region Contributions may be sent directly to the relief funds at the addresses listed below. The Foundation for Alger Families Thirty-five of the 55 employees of Fred Alger Management Inc., who worked on the 93rd floor of One World Trade Center, are missing. The Foundation for Alger Families has been formed to provide disaster relief and emergency hardship assistance to the families of employees who were killed or injured. The foundation will provide loans and grants to ensure that these families have basic necessities such as food and medical assistance. The foundation also hopes 2 to provide financial assistance to educate children who lose a parent in the tragedy. Make checks payable to: The Foundation for Alger Families. On September 18, with 560 of the 647 employees in the company’s New York headquarters accounted for, three confirmed dead, and 84 missing, Franklin Templeton Investments announced the formation of the FT Fiduciary Trust Memorial Fund to assist Fiduciary Trust and Franklin Templeton families affected by the tragedy. Donations to the New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund will go directly to the families of the fallen fire fighters and EMS personnel in New York City.
