INFORMATION CONCERNING OCTOBER 4-5 MEETINGS IN SAN FRANCISCO; DRAFT MEETING AGENDA

[13923] September 25, 2001 TO: COMPLIANCE ADVISORY COMMITTEE No. 39-01 RE: INFORMATION CONCERNING OCTOBER 4-5 MEETINGS IN SAN FRANCISCO; DRAFT MEETING AGENDA As previously indicated, the next meeting of the Compliance Advisory Committee will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 4th at the offices of Capital Research and Management Company, One Market Plaza, Steuart Tower, 20th Floor, San Francisco, California. Lunch will be served. Beginning at 1:30 p.m., there will be an afternoon session with members of the California ’40 Acts Group focusing on valuation issues. Committee members who cannot attend the October 4th meeting in person will be permitted to participate by phone. In addition, as announced earlier, Committee members are invited to attend a luncheon meeting of the California ’40 Acts Group on Friday, October 5th. This meeting will be held in the main dining room at the University Club of San Francisco, 800 Powell Street, from 12:00 p.m. until approximately 2:30 p.m. It will feature a panel discussion of state-sponsored college savings plans (“529 plans”) and education IRAs (now called “Coverdell plans”). Panel speakers will include Diane Ambler, a partner with the law firm of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart, Geoff Bobroff, President of Bobroff Consulting, Cathy Heron, Senior Vice President of Capital Research and Management Company and Diana Cantor, chair of the College Savings Plan Network and Executive Vice President of the Virginia College Savings Plan. Attached to this memorandum are: (1) a draft agenda for the October 4th Committee meeting; (2) a response form; and (3) instructions for participation by phone. If you have not already done so, or if your plans have changed, please return the attached response form to Stephanie Holly by fax at (202) 326-5827 by Friday, September 28th to let her know if you plan to attend the meetings or participate by phone.
