RE: ASIA MUTUAL FUNDS AND INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE,
NOVEMBER 7-9, 2000
Attached is the conference brochure for the Institute’s first asset management conference in Asia.
The conference will be held in Hong Kong, at the Regent Hong Kong Hotel on November 7-9, 2000.
This conference will address a variety of issues in Asia. Our program includes a panel featuring
area securities regulators and panels addressing issues regarding managing domestic mutual funds,
complying with laws in multiple jurisdictions, managing pension assets, selling offshore mutual funds,
and dealing with tax issues. In addition to our panels, the conference will include a series of breakfast
roundtable discussions focusing on developments in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, and
Taiwan. Each discussion group will be limited to 20-25 participants to encourage greater interaction, so
you must indicate your first, second, and third choices on the registration form.
The conference speakers represent a cross-section of mutual fund senior business executives,
attorneys, accountants and regulators from the Asia region as well as the U.S. Conference attendees also
will represent a wide number of different disciplines from different geographic locations. The day
preceding the conference the Institute will offer a complimentary workshop for securities regulators in the
region. The conference will provide an opportunity not only to discuss asset management issues specific
to Asia but also for private industry to interact with securities regulators from significant Asian countries.
