[12304] July 20, 2000 TO: BOARD OF GOVERNORS No. 44-00 INVESTMENT COMPANY DIRECTORS No. 11-00 PRIMARY CONTACTS - MEMBER COMPLEX No. 50-00 SEC RULES COMMITTEE No. 98-00 RE: 2000 INVESTMENT COMPANY DIRECTORS CONFERENCE - PRELIMINARY PROGRAM The Investment Company Institute is holding its Seventh Annual Investment Company Directors Conference, November 1-3, 2000 in Washington, DC, and again on November 13-15, 2000 in Santa Monica, CA. Enclosed is the preliminary program and registration form. The conference will feature a varied program of industry experts, government officials and experienced fund directors sharing their perspectives on issues of interest and concern to the fund director community. Additionally, it will provide opportunities for fund directors to meet with their peers informally and in group discussions. We plan to open the conference with a general session addressing the status of the SEC’s comprehensive fund governance rule proposals, as well as other recent legislative and regulatory initiatives that are of interest to fund directors. We will also offer a number of concurrent sessions on topics relating to the operation of fund boards and the responsibilities of directors.
