RE: IRS PUBLISHES FORM REPRODUCTION GUIDANCE
The Internal Revenue Service recently issued Revenue Procedure 2000-28, which sets forth the
requirements for year 2000 with respect to (i) using official IRS forms to file information returns with the
IRS, (ii) preparing acceptable substitutes of official IRS forms
to file information returns with the IRS, and (iii) using official or acceptable substitute forms to furnish
information to recipients. In particular, the guidance provides requirements regarding acceptable
substitutes for IRS Forms 1096, 1098, 1099, 5498 and W-2G. Revenue Procedure
2000-28 supersedes Revenue Procedure 99-34, 1999-40 I.R.B. 450.
