[11789] April 5, 2000 TO: BANK AND TRUST ADVISORY COMMITTEE No. 10-00 BROKER/DEALER ADVISORY COMMITTEE No. 6-00 OPERATIONS COMMITTEE No. 8-00 TAX COMMITTEE No. 15-00 TRANSFER AGENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE No. 19-00 RE: FINAL CHANGE IN DATE FOR MEETING ON NONRESIDENT ALIEN WITHHOLDING REGULATIONS TO MAY 15, 2000 ______________________________________________________________________________ The date for the meeting to discuss issues faced by regulated investment companies (“RICs”) as they prepare to implement the new, final withholding tax regulations that apply to certain US source income paid after December 31, 2000 to persons who are neither citizens nor residents of the United States (“nonresident aliens” or “NRAs”) has been changed from May 11, 2000 to May 15, 2000. This change is necessary due to a conflict with a public meeting of the Information Reporting Program Advisory Committee (“IRPAC”). We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this change in the NRA meeting date. A detailed memorandum discussing withholding issues faced by RICs under the new NRA regulations will be circulated in advance of the meeting. If you have not RSVP’d for the meeting, an attendance response form identifying the new NRA meeting date of May 15, 2000 is attached to this memorandum and should be sent by facsimile to the Institute’s Ezella Wynn at 202 326-5841. As previously announced,1 the NRA meeting will begin promptly at 1:00 p.m. in the David Silver Conference Room, which is located on the 12th floor of the Institute’s offices at 1401 H Street, NW, Washington, DC 20005. Lunch will be served immediately prior to the meeting. There is no charge for attending the NRA meeting or for lunch.
