RE: 1999 EQUITY MARKETS CONFERENCE - PRELIMINARY PROGRAM

As previously announced, the Investment Company Institute will hold its first Equity Markets
Conference on Tuesday, November 2, 1999, at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel, 1127 Connecticut
Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. Enclosed are the preliminary program and a registration form.
The Conference will feature panels covering a variety of equity markets issues, including:
technological advances in trading systems, extended trading hours, market liquidity and volatility, new
exchange models, ECNs, opening and closing of markets, best execution, online IPOs, and new
regulatory requirements.
To register for the Conference, please return the registration form and the appropriate fee to the
Institute’s Conference Division as soon as possible. The registration deadline is October 18. Please
make your own hotel reservations by calling the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel at 202-347-3000. To
ensure the preferred room rate of $189.00 single/double, please make your reservation no later than
October 8, and be sure to identify yourself as an Investment Company Institute conference attendee.
