These documents relate to the proposed safe harbor that would protect US businesses from enforcement actions under the EU Data Protection Directive.1 The FAQs, certain of which are attached, are available on the Department of Commerce web site.2 The comment period for all documents relating to the safe harbor has been extended to May 15, 1999. The Institute expects to comment on this proposal. If you have comments that you would like the Institute to make, please forward them to me no later than the close of business on May 9, 1999.
