The next regularly-scheduled meetings of the Tax Committee will be held in Chicago on June 9 and
10, 1999. Preliminary agendas for the meetings will be distributed approximately one week before the
meetings.
The meetings on June 9 and 10 will be held at the Chicago Marriott Downtown, which is located
at 540 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago IL 60611. A block of rooms has been reserved at the hotel, at a
rate of $179.00 for a single/$199.00 for a double, with a cutoff date of May 19. In order to receive the

June 9 Meeting on Calculating After-Tax Returns
On June 9, beginning at 2:00,1 interested members of the Tax Committee will meet to discuss
various issues associated with calculating and possibly reporting “after-tax returns.” Among other things,
we will discuss legislation introduced by Representative Gillmor and others to require the Securities and
Exchange Commission to improve disclosure of the tax effects of portfolio turnover on mutual fund
performance.2
