RE: Fourth Annual Advertising/Marketing Seminars-
(Advance Notice)
__________________________________________________________
For the fourth consecutive year, the Institute will sponsor a
series of one-day regional seminars on mutual fund advertising
and marketing this June and July. The one-day seminars will be
held in San Francisco, New York, and Boston.
This seminar series will again feature presentations on the
legal, creative, and strategic aspects of marketing mutual funds
directly to consumers, as well as through a sales force.
Speakers will include Clark Hooper, Director of Advertising for
the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD), as
well as legal and marketing executives from member mutual fund
organizations and outside experts. Their presentations will be
geared toward: (1) newcomers to the mutual fund industry; (2)
those who are new to the marketing function; (3) non-marketing
executives who are seeking greater familiarity with the marketing
function; and (4) sales/marketing/public relations executives who
have not attended these seminars in previous years.
Registration for these advertising/marketing seminars will be
restricted to employees of Institute member fund groups and their
advertising/design/public relations agencies. Please register
early, if possible.
Topics to be Covered
The program of this seminar is designed to provide basic
information on various aspects of mutual fund marketing, with the
goal of providing ideas which attendees may integrate into their
own marketing programs. The seminar also provides an overview of
the advertising/sales literature rules, and NASD policies and
procedures for enforcing those rules. This overview is designed
to provide basic information for a marketing audience.
Specific topics to be covered include:
- SEC/NASD Regulation of Fund Advertising and Sales Literature
- The Role of the NASD in the Regulation of Fund Marketing
Communications
- Case Studies: Descriptions of Marketing Programs of
Two Major Mutual Fund Complexes
- How Database Marketing Can Enhance Your Advertising and
Direct Mail Efforts
- Realities of Public Relations: What Reporters Want
From You - and Don't Want
- How to Select an Advertising Agency
