The World Bank and the Brookings Institution are inaugurating an annual conference and
publication series on Financial Markets and Development to examine issues concerning finance in
emerging market countries. Enclosed, for your information, is additional information about the
conference and publication series. The first annual conference, to be held in Palisades, New York on
March 26 and 27, will focus on Preventing Crises in Emerging Markets.
