1989 SEC/NASAA ANNUAL CONFERENCE ON UNIFORMITY OF SECURITIES LAW

March 9, 1989 TO: CLOSED-END FUND MEMBERS NO. 15-89 INVESTMENT ADVISERS COMMITTEE NO. 12-89 STATE LIAISON COMMITTEE NO. 1-89 UNIT INVESTMENT TRUST COMMITTEE NO. 11-89 RE: 1989 SEC/NASAA ANNUAL CONFERENCE ON UNIFORMITY OF SECURITIES LAW __________________________________________________________ On April 26, 1989, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the North American Securities Administrators Association, Inc. will hold a conference on uniformity in matters concerning state and federal regulation of securities. On April 7, the SEC and NASAA will hold a hearing on the proposed agenda for the conference. A copy of the release announcing the issues to be considered at the conference is attached. The agenda items relating to investment companies are as follows: (i) uniform disclosure requirements; (ii) Blue Sky laws; and (iii) use of company assets to pay for distribution expenses (Rule 12b-1). The agenda items relating to investment adviser issues include the following: (i) proposed federal registration exemptions; (ii) central registration depository system; (iii) investment adviser registration form; (iv) inspections; and (v) self-regulatory organization for investment advisers.
