RE: NOTICE OF MEETING - SEPTEMBER 24, 1998

The next International Committee Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 1998. The
meeting will be held in the Investment Company Institute’s David Silver Conference Room, 1401 H
Street, NW, 12th Floor, Washington, DC, at 10:00 a.m. Lunch will be served after the meeting. We will
send the agenda for the meeting at a later date. Please return the enclosed meeting response form by
Friday, September 18, 1998.
Please note that members of the International Committee will be invited to attend a full-day
meeting of the Compliance Advisory Committee to be held on Thursday, October 8, 1998, at the offices
of Capital Research & Management Company, at One Market, Steuart Tower, Suite 1800, San Francisco,
CA. The regular meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will be followed by lunch. After lunch, we will
have a special session focusing on international compliance issues. Members of the Compliance
Advisory Committee and the International Committee will be welcome to attend both sessions.
Additional information about the October 8th meeting will be circulated soon.
