[10136] July 17, 1998 TO: ACCOUNTING/TREASURERS COMMITTEE No. 30-98 COMPLIANCE ADVISORY COMMITTEE No. 20-98 INTERNAL AUDIT COMMITTEE No. 8-98 OPERATIONS COMMITTEE No. 28-98 SEC RULES MEMBERS No. 55-98 RE: NASD YEAR 2000 QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSIONS FOR FORM BD-Y2K ______________________________________________________________________________ The National Association of Securities Dealers recently sent a letter to members regarding the recently-adopted amendments to Rule 17a-5 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, which require certain broker-dealers to file Year 2000 readiness reports. According to the notice, the NASD will be sending new BD-Y2K forms to its members shortly, and will be offering free question and answer sessions to assist NASD members in completing these reports. The Q&A sessions will be two hours in length and will take place in cities across the country, beginning on July 31, 1998 in Chicago and ending on August 13, 1998 in Seattle. The notice requests that members call the NASD Year 2000 Program Office at (888) 227-1330 to reserve a space and to obtain additional information. Barry E.
