The keys issues of interest for the Committee are any issues relating to compliance – including obligations under the Federal securities laws and regulatory inspections and proceedings. Membership on the Committee provides members access to a panoply of relevant compliance materials that members have shared with ICI, including, for example, document requests from SEC, FINRA, or NFA inspections and compliance tools utilized by members. In addition, members of the Committee are asked to participate in informal surveys of the Committee relating to various compliance topics. Results of these surveys, which provide valuable information to members, are only shared with those members that participate in them.
The CCO Committee typically meets a minimum of four times a year, at least once each quarter. The Committee plans to meet in person twice a year with all other meetings held virtually. The in-person meeting will include a Committee dinner so members have the ability to meet socially and network. The meetings of the Committee are supplemented by “Deep Dive” sessions, which are educational sessions held virtually. The topics for these sessions are selected by members so they can become more familiar with a topic impacting their compliance efforts. These Deep Dive sessions are open to members of the Committee as well as any person within their organization interested in the topic. In addition to the Committee meetings and Deep Dive sessions, ICI engages with members of the Committee through memos and emails that keep members apprised of issues of interest to them or issues that may affect them.
Membership on the CCO Committee is limited to CCOs of funds and advisers that are members of the Institute. Members may have as many representatives on the Committee as they have CCOs.
