International Compliance Advisory Committee

The International Compliance Advisory Committee consists of those senior staff from our members’ compliance departments who oversee the member’s compliance with regulatory requirements imposed by non-US regulators (e.g., the FCA). The Advisory Committee provides a forum for members to discuss such requirements, including the challenges presented from operating in multiple jurisdictions, and sound compliance practices for firms with a global presence. From time-to-time, the Committee will also receive presentations from regulatory officials or experts on topics of interest to the Committee.

Key Issues of Interest

The key issues of interest for the Advisory Committee are those that relate to our members’ compliance functions, including issues that arise from being part of a global enterprise. The Advisory Committee’s objectives are to provide members with a forum to discuss relevant regulatory issues and their compliance challenges. The goals of these discussions are to: (1) educate members on applicable regulatory requirements and exchange information about how best to comply; (2) promote effective and efficient compliance practices; and (3) work collectively, where appropriate, on members’ compliance challenges. The members of the Advisory Committee will also be updated on the work of their US counterparts to this Committee, ICI’s Chief Compliance Officer Committee, to better understand the compliance challenges of their US colleagues and how those colleagues are addressing them.

Committee Meetings

The International Compliance Advisory Committee meets twice a year in London. In between Committee meetings, ICI engages with the Committee through memos and emails that keep members apprised of issues of interest to them or issues that may affect them. Additionally, when warranted, special meetings of the Committee will be held virtually.

Membership Information

Senior compliance staff of an ICI member firm who have responsibility for compliance obligations imposed by regulators outside the US are eligible to be a member of the Committee.
