The key issues of interest for the Working Group are any issues that may impact their work with the states as the states implement and operate their ABLE Act programs. These issues include, among others, those arising under state law, the Internal Revenue Code, the Social Security Act, and the Federal securities laws (particularly the rules of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board). The Working Group will interact with the ICI as necessary on any of these issues.
This Working Group does not meet except in exceptional circumstances when an in-person meeting would be of value to the members of the Working Group or the ICI staff. In lieu of meetings, the ICI keeps the members of the Working Group apprised of Federal, state, and self-regulatory organizations’ initiatives impacting ABLE Act programs plans through the publication of memos and emails directed to them.
Each member firm may have up to five representatives on the ABLE Act Working Group.
