529 Plan Advisory Committee

The 529 Plan Advisory Committee consists of representatives of ICI’s members who handle issues relating to the states’ 529 college savings plans. This is the Committee that the ICI will consult with when we review and comment on regulatory proposals of the SEC, the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board, the Internal Revenue Service, or the states relating to 529 plans. It is also the Committee that we will notify of such proposals and initiatives.

Key Issues of Interest

The key issues of interest for the Committee are any issues that may impact their work with the states’ 529 college savings plans. The focus of this Committee is working with the ICI as necessary on any state, Federal, or self-regulatory initiatives impacting the states’ plans.

Committee Meetings

This Committee does not meet except in exceptional circumstances when an in-person meeting would be of value to the members of the Committee or the ICI staff. In lieu of meetings, the ICI keeps the members of the Committee apprised of Federal, state, self-regulatory organizations’ initiatives impacting 529 plans through the publication of memos and emails directed to the Committee.
