How to Prepare for the EU 909/2014 Central Securities Depository Regulation

The EU 909/2014 Central Securities Depository Regulation (CSDR) is focused on improving securities settlement discipline and the activities of CSDs within the European Union. The regulation applies to CSDs based in the European Union and their participants, including EU-based CSDs such as Clearstream and Euroclear.

Transactions settled in such institutions (including non-EU securities) are in scope of the regulation. Importantly, the regulation will enforce cash penalties on failed or late matched trades and the introduction of mandatory buy-ins.
