Washington, DC, January 19, 2001 - Hugh B. Price, President of the National Urban League, will address the New York "Investing for Success" workshop next week, the latest in a nationwide series of investor education workshops promoting greater understanding among middle-income African-Americans about the benefits of long-term investing. The "Investing for Success" workshop is scheduled for Thursday, January 25, 2001, at The City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Mr. Price will make opening remarks to workshop participants.

The “Investing for Success” workshop between the National Urban League and Investment Company Institute Education Foundation aims to strengthen the understanding among African-Americans of opportunities to build wealth and invest for long-term needs such as retirement. The educational workshops are designed to enhance participants’ ability to increase their investment knowledge and help achieve economic self-sufficiency.
Announced in May 2000, the "Investing for Success" partnership has hosted free workshops in Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Houston, and Boston. The program has drawn praise from African-American leaders, members of Congress, and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The workshops are drawing capacity crowds and receiving high ratings from participants. Additional workshops are planned for Seattle, Chicago, Atlanta, Baltimore, Kansas City, Minneapolis, San Francisco and Washington, DC.
