Washington, DC; November 5, 2020—Miriam Bridges was today named vice president of the ICI Education Foundation (ICIEF), succeeding Christina “Tina” Kilroy, outgoing vice president. In this role, Bridges will lead ICI’s efforts to develop and deepen investor education resources and partner with ICI members and other organizations to enhance financial literacy. Bridges assumes this role while retaining certain functions of her position as editorial director of the Institute. As vice president of ICIEF, Bridges will report to Mike McNamee, ICI’s chief public communications officer and president of ICIEF.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Miriam to her new position as vice president of ICI’s Education Foundation,” said ICI President and CEO Paul Schott Stevens. “Her knowledge of the fund industry and deep experience in ICI’s public communications efforts will be a tremendous asset as she continues our efforts to improve financial literacy across the country.”
For three decades, ICIEF has partnered with government agencies and other nonprofit organizations to develop, deliver, and promote investment education programs to a variety of audiences. The foundation also participates in financial advocacy coalitions, conferences, and initiatives that promote saving and investing. ICIEF is a proud partner with Junior Achievement of Greater Washington, providing the “Investor Road Trip” to teach middle school students the fundamentals of investing at three JA Finance Parks in the Washington, DC, area.
ICIEF also entered into a partnership with the Toigo Foundation in April 2019 and recently made a five-year commitment to help support Toigo’s important efforts to nurture career advancement and increased leadership of underrepresented talent in the fund industry, as well as in similar industries.
“Financial literacy and investor education are essential for individuals and families saving for an education, retirement, and other long-term goals,” said Bridges. “I’m honored to lead ICIEF’s outreach and efforts to help more Americans achieve financial security.”
Bridges joined ICI in 2008 as managing editor in the public communications department, where she was promoted to editorial director in 2013. Bridges holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree in international affairs and diplomacy from the University of Westminster.
