Institute Issues Statement Concerning Anniversary of September 11 Attacks, September 2002

The tragic events of September 11 have provided an opportunity to realize our strengths both as a nation and as individuals. While thousands of lives were lost, tens of thousands more escaped harm thanks to the efforts of rescue workers who selflessly brought so many to safety.

Without a doubt, the past year was difficult and demanding for our nation and our economy. In the time ahead, it is important to remember all that has remained intact: our nation remains the strongest in the world and our industry continues to serve its 93 million shareholders.
