ICI Statement on the Passing of Former ICI Chair George Bissell

Washington, DC, October 26, 2023—Investment Company Institute (ICI) President and CEO Eric Pan released the following statement on the passing of former ICI Board of Governors Chair George Bissell:

“All of us here at ICI are saddened to hear of the passing of George Seymour Bissell. He was a great advocate of the asset management industry, serving thousands of American families over his decades-long, dedicated career in financial services. Bissell’s career culminated with his role as CEO of the Massachusetts Companies Inc., later Keystone. At that time, he worked on behalf of the wider industry and advocated for the millions of investors we serve with his leadership of the ICI board from 1982 to 1984. He will be greatly missed, and our thoughts are with his family.”
