ICI Statement on Confirmation of CFTC Chair

Washington, DC; December 15, 2021—Investment Company Institute President and CEO Eric J. Pan issued the following statement after the US Senate voted to confirm Rostin Behnam as the Chair of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC):

“I warmly congratulate Commissioner Behnam on his confirmation as Chair of the CFTC. As the new Chair, Russ Behnam brings a deep knowledge and expertise about the derivatives markets to this role and is dedicated to preserving the integrity, resiliency, and prosperity of the US financial industry. As I witnessed on numerous occasions when I had the honor of working with him at the CFTC, he understands the interconnectedness of the global financial markets, and the important role the US plays in creating fair, open, and transparent markets for market participants around the world.
