ICI Responds to SEC Vote on Climate Disclosure Rules

Washington, DC, March 6, 2024—Investment Company Institute (ICI) CEO and President Eric Pan released the following statement regarding the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) vote to finalize rules on public company climate risk disclosure rules:

“In its final public company disclosure rules, we are pleased that the Commission followed ICI’s recommendation not to mandate Scope 3 disclosure requirements at this time. As we await anticipated final rules from the SEC requiring funds and their managers to enhance their ESG disclosure, we urge the Commission not to impose greater obligations on funds and their managers than on public companies and to recognize the importance of appropriately sequencing fund compliance with any new public company disclosure requirements.”
