ICI Names Michael N. Pedroni Chief Global Affairs Officer

Global Financial Policy Expert and Former US Treasury Official to Lead ICI Global

Washington, DC; February 8, 2022—The Investment Company Institute (ICI) announced today that Michael N. Pedroni will join the Institute to serve as its chief global affairs officer.

“Michael’s strong leadership skills, experience working with international policymakers, and deep understanding of international financial and regulatory affairs make him the ideal person to lead ICI Global,” said ICI President and CEO Eric J. Pan. “I look forward to having Michael join ICI as we vigorously advocate on behalf of regulated funds and their investors around the world.”

Pedroni previously served under four US Treasury secretaries. He started at the US Department of the Treasury as the first director of the reestablished Markets Room, when the 2008 global financial crisis was unfolding. Pedroni was subsequently appointed as the US financial attaché to the European Union and head of Treasury’s office in Europe for three years beginning in 2013.

In 2016, he was acting senior director for global economics and finance at the White House and rejoined Treasury as senior executive director for international economic analysis. Pedroni started his career at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and later worked as an economist at the International Monetary Fund and in the private sector.

Most recently, Pedroni served as head of global markets and research at a trade association. In that position, he led that association’s international activities, which included engaging with European and international financial institutions and directing the development of the association’s data and analysis capabilities.

Pedroni graduated from Yale University and received a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University. In addition, he was a Fulbright Scholar in Germany and is conversational in German, Italian, and basic French. Pedroni also is an adjunct professor in the department of economics at George Washington University, where he teaches a course on managing international economic crises.
