In a recent video message to the staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Chair Gary Gensler reflected on his first year at the agency. Gensler observed that the SEC has “done a lot of foundational work with regard to a reform agenda,” including issuing approximately 25 rule proposals “reforming how our capital markets work for you.” Gensler noted that the rule proposals address, among other things, “how funds are managed on behalf of pension funds, or how fund advisers share information with the pension funds investing in them.” Gensler concluded his message by saying “this first year has been terrific” and there is “[m]uch more work to do going forward.”
