[14129] November 13, 2001 TO: TAX COMMITTEE No. 29-01 RE: CONFERENCE CALL ON NOVEMBER 13, 2001 TO DISCUSS LEGISLATIVE PROPOSAL PERMITTING ELECTRONIC DELIVERY OF IRS FORM 1099 The Senate Committee on Finance has inserted a provision in the tax bill that would permit electronic delivery of IRS Form 1099 on a voluntary basis. According to the description prepared by the Joint Committee on Taxation, the proposal would allow IRS Form 1099 to be provided to taxpayers electronically, if they so consent. This authority would be granted for forms due for taxable years ending before January 1, 2003 and would be effective on date of enactment. We understand that the provision would incorporate requirements similar to those for electronic delivery of IRS Form W-2, as summarized in Attachment B. We will hold a conference call on Tuesday, November 13 at 3:00 pm (EST) to discuss this legislative proposal. To participate in the call, dial 1-877-917-9486 and provide passcode “Form 1099” and the undersigned as the moderator. Deanna J.
